REvision!

Ok, well, the Nutramigen wasn't the solution... we had to go back to the doctor on Monday and Reed has lost more weight, so our pediatrician got us an appointment with the UK gastroenterology department. We went yesterday morning and the appointment went so well. The physician we talked to was very calming and reassuring that we would find out what is causing Reed to do this vomiting (that's what they are calling it now - nice!). She was so knowledgeable and so very kind that being in the room with her totally made me at ease. That in itself is an answer to prayer!

There are three scenarios that they think could be the culprit for the problems. So, they've placed us on the scedule for a EGD on monday and if nothing found there then we would do the upper GI. They are looking to see if his esophogus is malfunctioning (it can, based on his symptoms, be malfunctioning in two ways). So that is this Monday and we will await the scheduling of the UGI. We are keeping everything the same - formula, prevacid, etc. until Monday. So, we'll hunker down and take the ickiness as it comes! We cleaned the carpets this weekend b/c we just couldn't stand to see the stains
from the vomits that we couldn't get in time, so we are now pretty much going outside or staying in the kitchen after he eats! Oh, and a note of comic relief - Riley, on his own, renamed Reed last night to Shooter... saying he shoots his milk back out at us... we laughed for awhile at that one!

This past weekend we just had to get out of the house and we did it when we didn't think Reed's belly would be icky. So, we went to the apple orchard and had a GREAT time! We took some great pictures, so I wanted to share with you all. All of the pictures on this post are from the orchard - I just didn't want to have them one after another w/no words.

This slide was so much fun - That is jason on the top of the slide helping all the kids get situated before the slide down. It was too cute!

And last but not least, I wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you for your thoughts and prayers and encouraging, kind words. It has been a difficult season for us and without all of you, we wouldn't be sane right now, FOR REAL! Thank you for those of you who check on us daily, you just never know how much it means to me to have you all "behind" me. I love you!

So glad you all had fun at the apple orchard! Sounds like you are on the right path now with the specialist getting involved. Oh my goodness, I just can't imagine how big Reed's smile is going to be when he isn't "The Shooter" anymore! Take care and we'll be praying about Monday.

Wow, I can't believe my little smiley boy is still losing weight. There are still some more formulas out there that can even be more elemental. I don't know if they will send you to the Peds dietitian but I can email and ask her if you want. I was her back up when I worked at the hospital but I don't remember much anymore. Luckily, the UK peds doctors are so much more knowledgeable about nutrition stuff versus the adult doctors...they seem to get their nutrition info from Anna Nicole, Kirstie Alley, and Oprah. I hope his tests give you some better answers and solutions so we can get some weight on the little guy...I can offer to donate if needed. Thinking of you all! Karen

Oh mel, I am so sorry that Reed is shooting vomit all over the place, but so happy that you all have maintained your sense of humor. I'll be praying that they find a definitive answer for you and can fix the problem quickly. Meanwhile I'm just thankful that the temperatures are pretty nice right now and you can go outside. Pukey carpet is the pits! And what a sweety that he is still has such a happy smile. You guys take care.
