ourTWOsons

i've been wanting to compare these two pictures for awhile now, but i couldn't find the picture of riley that i had stuck in my head. so, alas, tonight i found it. i was expecting them to look more alike, side by side, but they sure don't!!! granted the picture of reed does not nearly capture the blueness of his big blue eyes...

reed - summer 2007

riley - summer 2004

riley had his second day of preschool today and he did great again. he doesn't talk much about it, but i keep prying!!! he said he loved his snack, but couldn't tell me what it was - so, i'm going to have to find out what that was... i'm hoping it was some kind of vegetable - HA! he did tell me about a new friend that he likes playing with - he said he was cool (how funny is that?). i couldn't really understand the name, so i had to get out the class roster and name all the names until he said YEAH, that one! i think his country accent was kicking in b/c the kids name is hayden and it sounded like he was saying... well, i can't even spell it. kind of like when they put his name as "rally" on his coloring sheet at church. hilarious! :-) we came home and played quite a bit outside and then we were ready for naptime!

today has been the perfect weather day - i am reminded again how much i love fall and how i am itching to get in to my favorite sweatshirts... so that leads me to the next question for all of you...

what is your favorite fall activity???

for us, we have found this apple orchard nearby that is awesome! i think we went three times last fall. it was a play area for the kids made out of hay and this HUGE slide that is soooo fun. it also has those apple slushies and the apple turnovers. my mouth is watering just thinking about it... a friend of mine asked me to make her some pumpkin carving invitations and i thought that might be fun, but didn't know how that would go over well as our pumpkin that we carved last year looked HORRID and it took us like three hours to complete. i don't think we'll be doing that again, unless anyone has any secrets to carving.

ok, gonna hit the hay for now!

Why can't they stay that size forever???? That is one of my fav pics of Riley. I don't remember seeing that one of Reed, but love it too.

I love everything about fall. Especially when you can wear long sleeves and shorts. The pumpkin patch is a fav around here. With the hay ride always being a big hit.

What an ADORABLE picture of Riley!!

We love football, of course, and there's nothing like a tailgate when the weather is cool (rather than sweltering, as it's been the past 2 weeks!) We've been reading a book about fall, and there's a picture of a windy day with leaves falling- I can't wait for that fall wind. Today when the wind blew, it smelled like fall. Mmmm...
Lauren Clay is looking forward to raking a pile of leaves to jump into like the one in the book.

They are both such cuties, but you are right--they don't look too much alike there.

Favorite fall activites--anything outside. The weather is so perfect. We love to go to Jackson's orchard. I'm anxious to see how it is this year though because they lost their whole crop with the early freeze. :( Football is right another favorite. Annie loves to tailgate! Emma is okay until it gets too cold, then she would rather go shopping. ;)

I Love Fall too!!! Fall is the reason I left my entire family in Texas to move somewhere with seasons....I grew up in St. Louis and just didn't understand how those Texans can go thru 3 months without trees changing and the smell of the wind and Sweatshirts! My favorite thing is the sound of fallen leaves under my shoes....the crunch, crunch of leaves is something I can't wait for Nick to hear for the first time...I think he will love it too! And, I can't wait to dress him up in all of the flannel and moose/bear stuff that we have! I think we should have a Spanish class at Evan's...are they open that early...There are lots of colors to learn in spanish and well the slushies and apple pies too...I would be glad to learn the spanish word for FRIED PIE. Although, I am sure it has something to do with Mantequilla which means FAT. :) See you soon! Karen

Such cute little guys you have! They are adorable, both of them. I love everything about fall. It is my favorite season. I love hooded sweatshirts, the way the sun casts shadows in the fall, going to the orchard, cobbler and a nice hot cup of coffee, reading a book on the screened in porch under a quilt....even though most of these things don't actually happen very often, I still LOVE them :)

i just LOVE all of your comments - i'm so thankful for fall weather even more!!! mary beth - i miss football games sooo much. they were just too fun in high school - is the student section way to the left of the stands (if you're looking at the stands)? i remember THAT was the place to flirt with that guy that you liked - well, for me that was always jason, but you know :-). AND, do people really tailgate for the hometown football games??? that is too fun!

shannon and karen - let's FORGET the word mantequilla b/c i don't want any part of knowing things i can't have in spanish too :-). hehe! looking fwd to tomorrow with both of you!

debbie - gosh, i've never seen your "new" house - i would love to see that screened in porch! i also loved DD's post - i love it that she is now having "dates" with mom and dad. priceless!

muri - you are hilarious - long sleeves and shorts - i just did that TODAY!!! it felt soooo good :-). hope you had a good second day at work, lady!
